Job Purpose

As a Senior Data Engineer in the Technical Intelligence (TechInt) team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s strategic direction. The TechInt team’s core mission is to analyze the blockchain industry, delivering data-driven insights to leadership on competitor activities, emerging trends and projects, and areas of technical innovation.

You will contribute to building an automated process that leverages a data warehouse, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) on AWS to generate these insights.

This role provides direct exposure to strategic decision-making and involves close collaboration with senior leadership, with a strong focus on analyzing company strategy and new venture planning from a quantitative perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive the end-to-end data process for intelligence (business and technical) across all company ventures. This includes acquiring, processing (ETL), modeling with AI/ML, and reporting.
• Act as the competitive positioning expert in the blockchain landscape, delivering actionable insights to meet stakeholder requirements.
• Architect and build scalable, performant data engineering pipelines using AWS; lead data system design, modeling, quality assurance, and delivery.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to identify data value, define key metrics for competitive positioning, and gather requirements. Partner with data engineers and analysts to ensure successful delivery.
• Work closely with data scientists, ML, and AI engineers to operationalize models and integrate LLM-related logic into data pipelines.
• Apply Scrum methodologies to manage prioritization, planning, and execution of tasks for the data intelligence team.

• Strong critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly grasp new data-related domains.
• Solid foundation in large-scale data systems, including data warehousing and data processing (parallel processing, data partitioning, cost optimization).
• Proficiency in data programming, covering algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of software development practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Deep Learning (DL).
• Familiarity with the Blockchain domain and a strong interest in expanding expertise within this area.

Education & Experience

• MSc/PhD in Computer Science, AI, or a related field (strong plus).
• 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering or data science.
• Expertise in data modeling and data warehousing, including building and optimizing data schemas and data lakes.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services (Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, Athena).
• Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Practical experience with big data frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark), workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions), and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Hands-on experience with MLOps, including operationalizing ML models in production.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring data engineers and driving data system projects from conception to delivery.
